@Social Design Exchange 2023, Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore, MD

Hi, I’m Jigyasa. My name means curiosity in my native language and (co-incidentally) matches the essence of who I am.

I am best described as getting intensely curious about things, thinking aloud in questions and reading the fine print.

My experience includes design & strategy with an equity and social justice centered lens. True innovation for me centers people’s diverse and intersectional experiences.

Currently I lead deposits & growth at Upgrade, building a neo-banking ecosystem that encourages healthy financial behavior.

Previously, I led product design, as a team-of-one at Own Up, a tech company helping homebuyers understand and never overpay for their mortgage.

Before that, I have navigated through challenges in housing equity, policy awareness, placemaking, workforce development and higher education — at startups, non-profits, design studios and educational institutions.

I am always looking forward to collaborating with mission-driven organizations, and currently building something new centered on social impact & design.

Outside of my day to day, I like exploring histories and being part of communities — in nature, the built environment and in academic settings. I also have a running, curated collection of whimsical environmental typography.
