Silly Tings is an 826 national center based in Asheville, North Carolina offering kids a chance to find the joy and curiosity in the ordinary. Inspired from Rube Goldberg mechanisms and the eclectic diversity of Asheville, the store embodies how seemingly disparate objects come together to do something big.

Background 826 National is an organization dedicated to offering after-school tutoring under the facade of a themed-store.
To create the identity for city of Asheville, I researched the background of the city, forming an understanding of the people and their culture. Combining that with 826 National’s mission, Silly Tings was created.

IconographyA set of icons was developed to create movement and rhythm, and add personality to the set of objects representing the essence of the store -- the silly tings.Each icon was named after the sound it makes.
